Frequently Asked Questions

Do I need to be an A+ student to volunteer? +

No! You just need to be comfortable with the subject you'd like to help in. If you can explain a concept clearly and confidently, you're qualified. We provide onboarding to help you succeed.

Will my hours be officially documented? +

Yes. We track every session and can provide a signed community service verification letter on request — suitable for Bright Futures, NHS, school portfolios, and college applications.

Is this in-person or online? +

All sessions are conducted virtually via video call — making it easy to fit volunteering around your school schedule from anywhere in Florida.

What is a Teaching Assistant role? +

A TA joins a session led by a more experienced tutor to observe, help answer questions, assist with practice problems, and gain confidence before running their own sessions. It's a great starting point for newer volunteers.

Can middle schoolers volunteer? +

We primarily work with high school students (9th grade and up) and college students. Strong 8th graders may be considered for a Teaching Assistant role. All volunteers must be at least 13 years old with parental consent.

Can this also lead to a paid tutor position? +

Absolutely. Many of our paid tutors started as volunteers. After demonstrating reliability and strong performance, volunteers are often invited to join the paid team. Visit our Join Our Team page to apply directly.
